Merry Christmas!

Well, sorry to say we have 10 math problems for homework.  It is Saxon lesson 51 (#13-#22).

Tomorrow will be our last day to add hours to our reading super bowl this semester.

No homework tonight except to READ please.  Don't forget our class party is on Friday.  Let me know if you want to bring anything for the party.  Boys are bringing a $3-$5 dollar boy gift for the exchange, and girls are bringing a $3-$5 girl gift.

Tonight:  spelling workbook pages and saxon lesson 50  (we will check, but students will just receive credit for doing the lesson)

Our Math Royalty This Week

Congratulations to Queen Kendra, Prince Ethan, and Duke Dakota!

My Monarchs seemed to really enjoy their 1000- Hour Reading Celebration Day today.  They were awesome and READ AND READ AND READ!  The superintendent happened to stop by and caught us with our noses in great books.  (I think she was a little jealous. )

Only homework tonight is that pesky spelling practice test.

Whew! It's Friday!

Have a great weekend!  We are hoping to have a HUGE reading day on Monday to celebrate our passing the 1000 hours on the reading super bowl.  Please feel free to bring a pillow and a good book from home on Monday. 

Wednesday will be our auction and we'll be baking Christmas/state cookies.  Fun day!

Don't forget our class party is on Friday.  Boys will bring a $3-$5 dollar gift for boys, and girls will bring a $3-$5 gift for girls.  If you want to bring any goodies, just let me know.  Drinks have already been taken.

Hope to see everyone in a couple of hours for our evening Christmas Program.  Our Santa Workshop will be open before and after the program.  Thank you to those who volunteered to help us this year.

There shouldn't be any homework tonight since we only did a one-sided, 10 problem page in math today.  I think most finished during class today. 

Hopefully, we can mail our Great Mail Race letters tomorrow.  We are sending to all 50 states and hope that we will hear from them in return.

Our state reports are also due tomorrow.  If they aren't finished, they will need to be done next week during free times.

Our Witch of Blackbird Pond summaries are out in the hallway.  If not, they will need to be finished tomorrow.

Everyone should be AT LEAST to 20 hours by Christmas for our Reading Super Bowl.  I won't be putting it on Power School until the last minute.  Hope you can find a little time to enjoy relaxing  with a good book ofver the weekend.

Our Class Christmas Party will be on Friday, the 21st.  Girls are asked to bring a $3-$5 girl's gift , and boys will bring a boy's gift.  We have a volunteer for drinks, but if anyone wants to bring snacks, that would be great.  On Wednesday, the 19th, we'll be having our 2nd class auction and making Christmas cookies.

Please be encouraging your child to keep building their houses with candy earned by doing their practice spelling tests and reading for our super bowl.  We'll be adding more candy in the coming two weeks.  (Some houses are so full, they may choose to just eat their earnings instead.)

Next week is our big 5th grade fundraiser, the Santa Workshop. Thank you to those who have volunteered to come and help.

New skill in math for today:  #2 on spiral sheet/ we did together, but will need to review again  (need to borrow from whole number to get a fraction equal to one so we can subract bottom fraction)
